Melabev is a community-based organization in Israel that specializes in caring for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Melabev focuses on the background, abilities, and interests of each person, knowing that they have the same need for social interaction and meaningful activities as everyone. The heart of Melabev is its day centers in which participants are offered an array of social and therapeutic activities, in groups and one-to-one, based on their cognitive level. Day centers also provide much-needed respite and support to families, assisting them in allowing their loved ones to age in place – the process of aging in one’s own home.
Melabev’s Programs and Services:
♦ Day Centers – a full day of social and therapeutic activities provided in groups based on one’s cognitive level, offered in Hebrew, English, and Russian
♦ Pe’ima – a day center group for people with Young Onset Dementia – under age 65.
♦ Melabev at Home– one-on-one therapeutic activities in the home offered to those unable to attend a day center
♦ Research Unit – studies conducted in collaboration with academic institutions in Israel and abroad
